Crossing
the central part of the continent was a true challenge in every sense of the
word. Getting
stuck for 3 days because of slipped trucks ahead, a broken axle just before the
most difficult part in the middle of the rain season, achieving 100km in 3
days, driving nearly 18 hours a day, water holes of more than 1,5m deep. But
also eating from banana mooring ropes, catching the rainwater for drinking,
ants - & insects attacks and assaults by locals as well as managing
corrupted soldiers at borders; being a conflict region between Hutu's and
Tutsi's at the same time and last but not least drinking Heineken beer from a truck
with dancing pymgies around! All these events together made the tropical rain forest a most
adventurous experience.
